How to grow them
Sow in a flat trench 15cm wide and 5cm deep, with the seeds in a zig-zag. Push in twiggy sticks or netting for them to climb as soon as they are up. Sow a short row every three weeks for a long season.
Peas and beans
Sweet enough to eat straight from the pod, which is where most of them go.

Pick regularly, starting from the bottom of the plant. The more you pick, the more they produce.
What goes wrong
Small caterpillars inside the pods. Sowings made early (March) or late (June) usually miss it.
They strip young plants. Net them from the start.
A white coating in dry spells. Water at the roots and choose a resistant variety for late sowings.
Good neighbours: Carrots, Radishes, Turnips.
